Jeremiyah Love Sets His Sights on Saquon Barkley’s Backwards Hurdle
Love, known for his own hurdling ability, has his sights set on attempting the daring move in the right situation.
The Notre Dame RB has built a reputation for his athleticism and willingness to take risks on the field. When asked about Barkley’s iconic move, Love made it clear that he’s not ruling out trying it himself.
“I most definitely at some point down the road will attempt (to do) a backwards hurdle, if the situation is right. But until then, I’m going to stick to jumping over people the regular way,” Love said on NFL Network.

His admiration for Barkley’s play is evident.
“Seeing Saquon do the backwards hurdle, that really inspired me to go out on the field and try to play as free as I can,” Love added. “That’s probably one of the greatest plays in football history I’ve ever seen.”
Love isn’t just all talk. His own hurdle against Northern Illinois was a defining moment for Notre Dame heading into the 2024 College Football Playoff.
While he hasn’t committed to a specific timeline, he’s openly toying with variations of high-flying moves.
“Maybe not in this game, but I’ve been thinking about a backward hurdle, a 360-hurdle. Whatever it may be. I just like showcasing my athleticism,” Love said.
Why Barkley’s Backwards Hurdle Is So Popular
Barkley’s backward hurdle was more than just a highlight. It has become a legend.
The Philadelphia Eagles running back stunned the league when he executed the move against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni called it “the best play I’ve ever seen.”

Barkley’s move was so unique that even the “Madden 25” football video game added the move to the immdiatley. It cemented his status as one of the league’s best players.
“Kids all over the country and all over Philadelphia are going to be trying to make that play,” Sirianni said.
As for Love, the comparisons to Barkley are flattering, but he’s determined to carve out his own path. Whether or not he successfully lands a backward hurdle remains to be seen.
