The finalists for the Heisman Trophy have been announced, and there’s not much surprise. Notre Dame’s running back Jeremiyah Love is accompanied by a trio of quarterbacks: Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia, Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, and Ohio State’s Julian Sayin.

While Mendoza and Sayin will continue playing this season as they enter the College Football Playoffs (CFP), the season is essentially over for Pavia and Love. Fans are so angry with the committee’s decision to cut the Fighting Irish from this year’s CFP that some have urged the running back to decline the trophy if he wins it.
“Jeremiyah Love should decline the Heisman Finalist nod,” thought someone.
Others, however, opined that Love should be recognized for what he did this season.
“Mendoza didn’t even have 3k passing yards and took a 11-2 team that was good and made them good lol what a joke. Sayin wasn’t even the best one on his team lmfao give it to Love or Pavia,” explained one fan.
Some fans were just happy that a running back was included in the list.
“Wow, a RB and three Cinderella QBs as Heisman finalists? This is the most refreshing, anti-blueblood snub-fest ever – Pavia dragging Vandy to glory steals the show! Who’s taking home the stiff-arm?,” celebrated someone.
Some said he shouldn’t have been included at all.
“Declining a post season bowl invitation should also disqualify players from post season awards,” declared another person.
Others just thought he didn’t compare to Ashton Jeanty’s season last year.
“Comparing Jeremiyah Love to Ashton Jeanty last year is absolutely insane. Jeanty got robbed,” lamented another fan.
“Give it to Pavia. If Jeanty didn’t win the Heisman as a RB last year when he should have, Love doesn’t even come close not sure why he’s even in the convo,” declared another person.

Who’s the Favorite for the Heisman?
At the moment, Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza has the best odds among the finalists, according to CBS Sports, with +155. He’s followed by Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia (+185) and Ohio State’s Julian Sayin (+200). Jeremiyah Love actually closes out the group, with a drastic drop in the odds to +5500.
