With a unique combination of size, footwork, and technique, he’s an outstanding prospect who has been on the radar of elite college schools since his sophomore season. His athleticism is enhanced by his track and field background. He is the son of Olympic shot putter Christian Cantwell.
After getting more than 30 scholarship offers, Cantwell has narrowed his options down to six powerful schools:
1. Georgia Bulldogs – Georgia’s prominence on the national level makes it an appealing option. Under Kirby Smart’s supervision, the Bulldogs are conventional national title challengers, producing top-tier OL consistently.
2. Michigan Wolverines – Cantwell has risen to prominence at Michigan following back-to-back Joe Moore Awards, which recognize the nation’s top offensive line. The Wolverines have established a reputation as an NFL pipeline for linemen, and Cantwell tends to prioritize player development.
3. Missouri Tigers – Missouri offers the hometown pitch. Coach Eli Drinkwitz has aggressively recruited in-state players, and Cantwell would be the highlight of the Tigers’ 2026 class. Being close to family and having the opportunity to build a legacy are significant perks here.
4. Ohio State Buckeyes – Ohio State has long been a destination for OLs with NFL ambitions. The Buckeyes’ recent offensive line success, particularly under Coach Justin Frye, has helped them make strides toward Cantwell’s recruitment.
5 & 6. Oregon Ducks & Miami Hurricanes – While Georgia, Michigan, and Missouri appear to be heading the way, Oregon and Miami should not be underestimated. Oregon’s facilities and Nike-backed branding lure top athletes, while Miami is a developing force with significant NIL appeal.

Originally, Cantwell was not expected to commit until later in 2025. However, based on his last tweet, a decision could be made in weeks, not months.
Wherever Cantwell ends up, he will immediately become the foundation of that program’s 2026 recruiting class. He’s a projected multi-year starter and a future NFL first-round pick. His commitment could potentially have a knock-on effect, affecting the decisions of other high-profile OLs in the class.
Jackson Cantwell’s recruitment is nearing its conclusion, and the college football world is following closely. As one of the most desirable linemen currently, his commitment will be a turning point in the 2026 recruiting season.
