On Saturday, Dec. 6, a report was published by college football reporter Justin Hokanson via On3 on X/Twitter, announcing that Auburn Tigers quarterback Jackson Arnold is expected to enter into the transfer portal this offseason.
This comes after the Tigers released their most recent head coach, Hugh Freeze, in November of this year after a poor record at that point in the 2025 campaign. Auburn named its new coach, Alex Golesh, earlier in the week, but it seems that its hunt for a retooled 2026 roster will continue, given that Arnold is looking for a new program in what will be his fourth year.

College football fans online gave their predictions on where Arnold could eventually transfer in the upcoming offseason.
“Breaking: Jackson Arnold commits to the University of Phoenix,” one user claimed.
“Miami about to pay this man $6m to take them to the Pop Tarts Bowl,” another user shared.
“Should end up at Jacksonville state or Old Dominion,” another said.
“Only one place he would work at,” a user wrote with a GIF of the FIU Panthers.
Other X users believe that Arnold has already decided where he wants to go, which is likely to be coach Brent Key’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
“Georgia Tech,” one fan posted with a GIF.
“Honestly, GT is probably the only P4 team he could have any success with, their scheme is perfect for him. 20 QB runs and all the pass plays are super easy with minimal processing requirement,” another user explained.
“I truly believe he’d thrive at Georgia Tech where a run heavy QB is acceptable,” a user pointed out.
Arnold enters the transfer portal once again, having previously done so in 2024. Before his one-year stint at Auburn, he played the first two years of his collegiate tenure with coach Brent Venables’ Oklahoma Sooners. In what was his final game as a member of the Tigers squad, Arnold and his 2025 teammates were beaten by the Alabama Crimson Tide, 27-20, on Nov. 29.

Jackson Arnold And The 2025 Auburn Tigers Did Not Make It Into Postseason Play
Perhaps a driving factor in Jackson Arnold’s decision to enter his name into the transfer portal is the fact that this year’s Auburn Tigers were unable to qualify for the college football playoffs.
The Tigers finished with an overall record of 5-7 (1-7 SEC) and were ranked as the No. 13 seed in the SEC. Both Arnold and Auburn will now focus on their next steps separately.
