After a Labor Day schedule that stretched from Thursday to Monday evening, college football fans have been starved of live action for two days now. Is there college football on Thursday? When will this live-action drought come to an end? All the information on the upcoming schedule can be found below.
What College Football Games Are Up Next in Week 2?
Sadly for college football fans, there will be no Thursday game in Week 2, as the collegiate game gives way to the NFL’s annual kickoff showcase. However, there is still midweek football to look forward to, with several games scheduled for Friday evening before a mammoth slate across the traditional Saturday afternoon slots.
The Indiana Hoosiers, fresh off a season-opening win over FIU under new head coach Curt Cignetti, welcome Western Illinois to Bloomington in the first of two 7 p.m. ET kick-off games on Friday evening. The other action sees the BYU Cougars travel to Dallas to take on the SMU Mustangs in an all-Power Four encounter with plenty of talent on display.

Then, it’s all eyes on Lake Michigan as the Northwestern Wildcats host the Duke Blue Devils at their temporary lakeside home. David Braun’s Wildcats escaped their season-opener with a narrow win over reigning MAC champions Miami (OH), while the Manny Diaz era at Duke started with a 26-3 win over FCS Elon.
So, while there might not be college football on Thursday this week, there are still plenty of big-time playmakers — like SMU quarterback Preston Stone — to watch in the midweek slate of college football Week 2 action.
