The Buffaloes kick off their 2024 season on Thursday night against North Dakota State, a former FCS powerhouse.
While the Bison remain a strong college football team, they are no longer the dominant force they were in the 2010s, when they captured eight of 10 FCS national titles.
Colorado, under head coach Sanders, improved last season but finished 4-8.
After getting off to a torrid 3-0 start and reaching a No. 18 national ranking, the Buffs fell off down the stretch. A big reason was how much they struggled on the offensive and defensive line against Pac-12 opponents.
Sanders focused on strengthening the trenches by adding talent via the transfer portal. His son, Shedeur Sanders, returns as quarterback after throwing for 3,230 yards and 31 touchdowns last season.
North Dakota State, coming off an 11-4 season, is led by veteran QB Cam Miller, who threw for 2,688 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2023.
The Bison reached the NCAA FCS Semifinal last season but lost a heartbreaking 31-29 double-overtime game to Montana.
Although you can watch Colorado vs. North Dakota live on ESPN in college football Week 1, the Buffaloes will have multiple ways to keep up with the action this fall.
