The 2024 version of the iconic college football rivalry between the No. 9 Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers will look very different from the previous 127 editions.
The schools will meet on Saturday in what will be only the second time in the history of the rivalry game, which dates back to 1894, that the two sides clash on the gridiron before you celebrate Halloween. With Oregon trading in its Pac-12 membership for one with the Big Ten, this game will not only be played earlier than usual, but the Ducks and Beavers will meet as non-conference opponents for the first time since 1963.
As for today’s game, here’s how to listen to this historic game on the radio.

The 128th edition of the Oregon-Oregon State game will move it into a tie for the second-most played rivalry in FBS history, trailing only Minnesota vs. Wisconsin (132 meetings). Both teams will enter the rivalry contest unbeaten for the first since since 1907 and for just the third time in series history.
Oregon was challenged but ultimately victorious in both games it played to start the season. Though it outgained Idaho by 270 yards, the winning margin was only 10, with much of the fourth quarter played with the score within one possession. The Ducks then outlasted a resilient Boise State team with a 25-yard field goal by Atticus Sappington as time expired to push its record to 2-0.

Dillon Gabriel enters his first taste of this rivalry off performances that should keep him in the Heisman Trophy discussion. The Oklahoma and UCF transfer is the only FBS quarterback this season with a completion percentage above 80% on at least 70 passes and will enter the Oregon State game with more 15-yard completions (12) than incompletions (11) this season.
Senior linebacker Jeffrey Bassa will not be getting his first taste of this rivalry. In fact, he knows the importance this contest takes on beyond the pursuit of a bid to the College Football Playoff. Bassa has relayed that message to the incoming freshmen and transfers this week.
“It means the world to me. It means everything. I know it means a lot to the people who have come before me. To the university, to the people of Eugene, and to the state of Oregon as well,” Bassa told reporters.
Oregon State moved to 2-0 this season after blanking San Diego State, 21-0, the program’s first road shutout since 1983. Quarterback Gevani McCoy completed 25 of 36 for 295 yards and two touchdowns as the Beavers look to make it three wins in a row against the Ducks at Reser Stadium.
These teams are scheduled to meet again in 2025 as non-conference opponents, though the future of the Oregon-Oregon State rivalry after that is less clear.
The Ducks will enjoy a bye week after this game before the start of Big Ten play on Sept. 28 at UCLA.
