ESPN college football analyst and commentator Greg McElroy recently revealed who he believes is an underrated gem, despite being left out of his list of the top 10 running backs in college football on “Always College Football.”
McElroy’s list was topped by Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. However, the Analyst also explained why he believes one of Love’s teammates is an underrated gem going into next season.

‘The Best Running Back in College Football’ McElroy Details Why Notre Dame Running Back Is Special
In his list of the top 10 running backs in all of college football going into next season, McElroy explained why he believes Love is going to be the top prospect in the country with Notre Dame.
“The best running back in college football should come as no surprise. Anyone who’s watched any of the games I’ve called, you can tell that I love this kid.” McElroy began, detailing why he believes Love is the best running back in college football.
“There were so many times this year where he defied my expectations, there is no better example of what Love is capable of than that one-yard touchdown run where he would not be denied under any circumstances against Penn State.”
“That is an example of what Jeremiyah Love is capable of, not only the tough yardage, but also the outstanding speed that we saw against Indiana,” McElroy explained, referring to Love’s 98-yard touchdown run in that game.
No. 1 Back on 92 out of 134′ – Greg McElroy Claims Jadian Price Is College Football’s Hidden Gem
However, Love is not the only Notre Dame running back McElroy is high on, despite leaving him out on his top 10 list. McElroy explained why he believes Jadarian Price is an underrated gem and worth an honorable mention.
“I’m not sure there is a better back in the country that supports my argument that it’s hard to evaluate backs in a running back by committee type of room, McElroy said.
“I’m not sure anyone highlights that better than Jadarian Price. He is our first honorable mention. When I watch Jadarian Price, I really think that if this guy were the number one back on 92 teams out of the 134, he would be among the best and most productive backs in the country.”
McElroy also went on to claim that if Price were to see half of the carries that Love saw in a season, he would easily be amongst the best in the country.
“He did not get as many opportunities as Jeremiyah Love. He had just 120 carries, but that’s a tandem that is among the best in the entire country.”

“If Jadarian Price were ever given the opportunity to carry it, I don’t know, 240 times, what would his numbers look like because he went for nearly 750 a year ago? I think this is a young man who’s very, very solid. Very, very strong, and could be one of the best backs in the country if he got a little bit more opportunities.”
Price rushed for 746 yards on 120 attempts. Averaging 6.2 yards per attempt. He also capped off the season with seven rushing touchdowns. The running back will have to once again back up these numbers if Notre Dame wants to get back to the National Championship Game.
