Greg McElroy Offers Reason for Making Jadan Baugh an Honorable Mention Top 10 Running Back

ESPN college football analyst and commentator Greg McElroy recently revealed who he believes is an underrated gem, despite being left out of his list of the top 10 running backs in college football on “Always College Football.”

Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love topped McElroy’s list. However, the Analyst also explained why he believes a former True Freshman is an underrated gem going into next season.

‘One of the Most Physically Impressive Running Backs in College Football’ Greg McElroy Offers Reason for Florida Honorable Mention

On a recent episode of “Always College Football,” McElroy explained his list of top 10 running backs going into next season, with Notre Dame’s Love topping the list.

McElroy’s list also included names such as Oregon’s Makhi Hughes and Penn State’s Running Back duo in Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen. The Analyst also offered up some honorable mentions, including Florida’s Jadan Baugh.

“One of the most physically impressive running backs in college football is Jadan Baugh,” McElroy said. “Last year, he was a true freshman, but his size, speed, and power ratio are just extremely rare. You’re just not used to seeing a guy at 6’1″, 230 pounds, who got much better as the season went along last year.”

McElroy also explained how impressive it was for Baugh to play as many games as he did in his True Freshman season, beating out Montrell Johnson.

“Now, he was not a guy that was expected to be in the mix as often as he was there in the first two or three games of the year,” McElroy said. “Thought it was going to be Montrell Johnson. Thought it would be maybe a couple of other veterans.

“But they just couldn’t keep Jadan Baugh off the field. He had such a great feel for Billy Napier‘s offense, and his progress and his strong finish have him carrying a lot of momentum into the offseason.”

In the end, McElroy concluded that Baugh should be one of the running backs to look out for in 2025, despite the apparent snubbing from his top 10 rankings.

“He’s massive, he’s big, he’s difficult to bring down, he’s extremely strong, and he also is in an offense that I think suits his skillset extremely well,” McElroy said. “Keep an eye on Jadan Baugh and the progress that could be made here in 2025.”

Going into the offseason, the Florida Gators’ running back room currently has an ongoing positional battle between Baugh and Ja’Kobi Jackson.

During Florida’s spring game, both Baugh and Jackson were among the standout players. However, neither of the two is shying away from the positional battle, with Jackson admitting he has a ‘lot of love’ for the Freshman going into his sophomore season.

“Jadan Baugh is great,” Jackson said. “We compete every day. That’s my guy. We don’t hold anything against each other.

“Whenever we do something wrong or something we don’t think we should do, we’ll be like, ‘Hey, man, you could have done this.’ And we take it like that and just go on with it. Every day is a competition, and we come in ready to work every day.” Jackson concluded.

Both running backs are set to kick off their season at home against the LIU Sharks, where we will see who ultimately comes out on top.
