With the 2025 season on the way, there are some big changes for the Georgia Bulldogs. Five-star safety Jireh Edwards and top-tier tight end Mark Bowman are headlining what’s to be a massive G-Day recruiting weekend for the Bulldogs.

Mark Bowman and Jireh Edwards Are What the Georgia Bulldogs Need
After the ups and downs of the 2024 season, the Georgia Bulldogs are desperate for a reset. Last season was unpredictable, and Georgia had one of the toughest regular-season schedules in college football.
Yet, despite it all, the Bulldogs made it to the SEC Championship game. Their fifth season under Kirby Smart ended with an overtime win over Texas. That momentum landed them as the No. 2 seed in the debut 12-team College Football Playoff.
Still, the post-season game was done before it started after their 23-10 loss to Notre Dame.
Georgia struggled quite a bit in 2024, and it was not just one area’s issue. They had a stagnant run game, failed third-down conversions, and a record-setting number of dropped passes. To make it worse, add the spike in penalties. And that’s exactly why names like Bowman and Edwards couldn’t come at a better time.
Now with Bowman, the Bulldogs are looking at a 6’5″, 225-pound tight end who is the No. 2 player at his position. He has even visited Athens for a game in November.
“I had a great experience at Georgia,” Bowman told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “The environment was crazy. I am excited for their offense. The way they use the tight end and spread the ball around is very important to me. Their coaching staff is like no other.”

Despite the pressures from USC and Texas, Bowman hasn’t backed off his Georgia interest. And for a team that just finished next-to-last in the SEC in rushing and lacked dependable short-yard threats, Bowman could be a game-changer. Then there’s also Jireh Edwards.
Jireh Edwards is a defensive star from St. Frances Academy in Maryland. He is ranked the No. 16 player nationally by Rivals and is precisely the kind of man that Georgia needs on the back end of its defense. The Bulldogs last season were leaky with their defense. They finished 30th in total defense.
One of their main issues was the tackle. Georgia missed 121 tackles in 2024, their most in nearly a decade. Now, if the Bulldogs can get Edwards, that is a big win. Edwards has been in daily contact with Georgia’s staff and is scheduled to visit April 12-13.
His junior-day trip in February only tightened the bond, and Georgia has remained at the top of his radar even through the recruiting dead period.

If the Bulldogs can land him, they’ll be adding a hard-hitting, high-IQ safety who can help with the tackling issue.
Meanwhile, Bowman has his official visit scheduled for June 13. Both Bowman and Edwards aren’t just top recruits; they are the solutions to Georgia’s big gaps last season.
