The Syracuse Orange announced a unique recruitment on Monday, Dec. 1, as they welcomed rapper Toosii into their football program. The idea of a rapper, let alone a 25-year-old one, joining a Power Four program drew strong reactions from the fans. Some saw it as an admirable story, while others thought it was a disrespect to the sport.
Fans also criticized head coach Fran Brown.

Overall, fans were just surprised by the randomness of it all.
“25 year old freshman 💔🥀,” joked one fan.
“It’s too late for April fools bro… how we go from Kyle McCord to this??? wtf,” lamented another person.
“This ni**a will be draft eligible by the time he 28-29 😂,” said someone who couldn’t believe the news.
Did the Orange even invest in him?
“He paying money to sit on the bench? Cause no way they wasted a scholarship on his b*m a** 😭,” asked someone.
A few fans did like the story it portrayed.
“Good for him, hopefully this sets a trend,” said one person.
“Bro is making moves. First Sac State now Syracuse. People are hating this man has songs that people know the words to and gets to play in the ACC. Hats off to this man,” admiringly said someone else.
But overall, fans found it hilarious.
“Famous? Lmao,” joked yet another fan.
“College football is the most random sport of all time😂😂,” said one person.

Others connected a series of firings that took place at Syracuse this Monday to the questionable decision to recruit a rapper.
“Should have fired their HEAD coach,” said someone else.

Who Did Syracuse Fire?
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, the Orange are firing special teams coordinator Ricky Brumfield, offensive line coach Dale Williams, defensive backs coach Joe Schaefer, and co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Robert Wright.
Head coach Fran Brown will stay put.
“There’s some decisions that I’ll have to make coming up for the football team for Syracuse and I’m going to make the right decisions,” said Brown recently.
Syracuse had a disappointing 3-9, with an atrocious 1-7 ACC mark this season.
