The Alabama Crimson Tide finds itself in a tough spot by halftime in the SEC championship game against the Alabama Crimson Tide. They are down 14-0 entering halftime and if they continue to be shut down in the final two quarters, their College Football Playoff spot might come under scrutiny.
The Crimson Tide is currently ranked No. 9 with a 10-2 record. They should qualify from an at-large spot even if they lose the SEC championship game, but if it’s a blowout loss, Kalen DeBoer’s team’s playoff spot is not confirmed.
Amid this, fans are already asking the committee to throw Alabama out of the playoff contention.
“If Alabama loses by a couple scores to Georgia, maybe just put ND and Miami in and call it a day. If Alabama complains tell them to not get smoked by Florida State,” one fan wrote.

“Or just boot them with any kind of loss. We saw how the moral victory championship losses worked last year with SMU,” another reacted.
“Bama better off being idle which makes these conference championships a double edge sword,” one fan wrote.
“Three losses. Should be over for them,” another added.
“ESPN would never kick out a sec team. They aren’t even debating it,” one fan posted.
“I think it’s time we start to consider leaving Alabama out the CFP,” one fan wrote.

What If Alabama Loses SEC Championship Game In Blowout Fashion?
If Alabama loses the SEC Championship game by a margin, it would be their third loss on the season and could complicate their position in the final CFP rankings. The odds are already going down by halftime.
Before the championship game began, Bama were -2500 to make the playoffs. After the first quarter, they dropped to -1000. And now by halftime, they are further reduced to -750.

It would be a tough decision for the CFP committee either way. If they keep Alabama in the playoffs, it would feel injustice to other at-large hopefuls like Notre Dame, Miami and BYU. But it’s also important to note that Alabama plays in the most competitive conference in college football, the SEC, so their strength of schedule is much higher than other at-large contenders.
