Everybody is talking about EA Sports College Football 25, including some college coaches at Media Days across the country.
Minnesota head coach PJ Fleck had an interesting answer when asked about his star left tackle and had a unique way of emphasizing Aireontae Ersery’s athleticism, invoking proof from the video game in the process.
Fleck on Ersery: “It’s a Hack!”
EA Sports College Football 25 has captivated gamers not simply within the playing of the game, but also with the lore and conversation surrounding it.
When the top 100 players list was released in the week leading up to the game’s launch, some were surprised to see Minnesota’s Ersery near the top of the list, but not Fleck.
“Aireontae Ersery, who’s our starting left tackle who’s getting a lot more notoriety,” Fleck said when talking about the players he brought to Big Ten Media Days. “One of the notorieties is he’s a top-25 player in the EA Sports College Football game.”
But Fleck didn’t stop by simply mentioning that fact, going on to share anothing interesting tidbit.
“Not only that, but if you take him and you move him to tight end, it’s a hack. He’s a 99. There’s some information for you.”
Is Aireontae Ersery Really a ’99’ at Tight End?
While it’s an impressive statement and a way to showcase Ersery’s athleticism, it’s not quite right. I checked, and I’ll give Fleck’s statement a “half-truth” rating.
At left tackle, Ersery has a 93 overall rating, but his pass-block rating and footwork are both in the low 80s. Playing on the offensive line brings his overall rating down just a bit.

However, when you change his position to tight end, those two attributes aren’t nearly as important, and his 97 run blocking and 99 run-blocking finesse shine at that position. As a tight end, Ersery is a 96 overall, making him the highest-rated overall player in the game.
Ersery’s 95 awareness, 96 impact blocking, and 97 strength really help at the position, and I’ve seen a few gamers turn him into a decent receiver as well.
So while Fleck’s statement isn’t perfect, he’s not far off.
Ersery could hear his name called early on draft day next season, but for now, gamers can enjoy moving him wherever they please on the field.
Here’s to going with the Maryland I and trying him out at fullback.
