Dillon Gabriel Embraces Leadership, Success As He Faces NFL Height Concerns

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel remains unfazed by skeptics who question his NFL potential due to his 5-foot-11 stature. Confident in his performance and leadership, Gabriel points to his track record of success and film study, frequently analyzing Baker Mayfield’s play while drawing comparisons to Brock Purdy and Tua Tagovailoa.

“I’m not for everyone,” Gabriel acknowledged. “I challenge everyone just to watch the tape, you see the evolution 2019 until now, the growth I’ve made physically and mentally. Even my throwing motion — you see how polished and detailed it has been. I’m confident in my tape, whether it’s good or bad, I think you can learn from that and most importantly how I’ve responded.”

Gabriel since his days at Mililani (Hawaii) High School, where he was a four-year starter with 105 touchdown passes. As a senior, he earned Gatorade National Player of the Year honors, throwing for 38 touchdowns.

A 2024 Heisman Trophy finalist, Gabriel threw for 60 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in his final two seasons. Across 64 games, he completed 65.2% of his passes for 18,722 yards and 155 touchdowns. Holding the FBS record for most career total touchdowns (189), Gabriel is determined to prove his worth.

“I’m a leader. I’m a winner. I’ve won at all three spots, and I’ve done it in big games,” said Gabriel, a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2024 who had 60 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions in his final two college seasons.

“I want teams to believe I can go out there and win games,” he said. “If a team wants a winner, a franchise leader, they know who to call.”
