Conner Weigman Injury Update: Could Star Texas A&M QB Return Against Missouri?

What's the latest on the status of Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman? Could he return to the starting lineup against Missouri?

Conner Weigman has been a notable name on the Texas A&M Aggies availability report for several weeks. After being described as questionable in the build-up to the all-ranked clash with the Missouri Tigers, is there any change to Weigman’s status as kickoff looms.

    What Happened to Conner Weigman?

Weigman has been out of action since the Week 2 win over McNeese State due to an upper-body injury. However, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the star quarterback will return to the starting lineup for a pivotal matchup against Missouri in College Station.

Thamel added that Weigman had taken first-team reps in warmups ahead of the game.

Being listed as a game-time decision in recent weeks has resulted in Weigman’s absence. While he has been out of the starting lineup, Marcel Reed has performed admirably.

Furthermore, a number of analysts and fans have considered Reed a better fit for the Texas A&M offense. The second-year quarterback had thrown six touchdowns with zero interceptions while throwing for 585 yards. Reed’s dual-threat ability also saw him add 230 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

    Who Is Marcel Reed?

Although Reed will cede the start to Weigman, there is every possibility that he’ll be the longterm starter for the Aggies.

A graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, Reed is a true dual-threat quarterback capable of beating defenses both through the air and on the ground. Now a redshirt freshman, Reed made three appearances last season and has appeared in three of four games this year, including starts against Florida and Bowling Green.

Reed’s greatest asset is his ability to operate a full offense. He excelled in Montgomery Bell’s complex offensive system in high school, running it to perfection.
