Colorado vs. Nebraska Game Preview
The Colorado-Nebraska rivalry has a long and storied history, and these fanbases do not like each other.
With Deion Sanders at Colorado, it’s sometimes difficult to remember that aspect of the program. But make no mistake — these teams really want to win this game.
Last week, the Buffaloes bested FCS North Dakota State by about 6 yards in a 31-26 win. While the offensive line looked much better than last season, the defense still struggled, leading many to question Sanders’ coaching philosophy.
On the flip side, Nebraska fans have a sense of nervous energy simply because they haven’t been this excited about a team in over a decade.
Nebraska has a chance to end the longest bowl drought in the Power Four this year, largely due to the addition of five-star freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola. The defense is still salty, but the Cornhuskers don’t look like they need to worry about squeaking out 17-13 victories anymore.
Both of these offenses should score, so the key will be if either team can create havoc up front.
Raiola was impressive in his debut, but there’s more pressure this week since Heisman hopeful Shedeur Sanders is on the other sideline. A few turnovers could doom the Cornhuskers because Colorado will likely score some points.
On the other side, though, Shedeur Sanders needs to be almost perfect, as the Colorado defense should struggle in this one. It could be a shootout in Lincoln.
While Nebraska has dominated the series throughout its history, the Cornhuskers are on a three-game losing streak against the Buffaloes after losses in 2018, 2019, and 2023. It’s been almost 15 years since the Cornhuskers last bested their rivals.
Nebraska and Colorado will clash at 7:30 ET Saturday on NBC and Peacock.
