Oregon Ducks WR Tez Johnson’s draft stock just took a massive hit when, at the Senior Bowl, he measured in at 5’9″ and 156 pounds. While there have been light receivers successful in the NFL, the weight is certainly a cause for concern as it makes him more prone to injuries.

Tez Johnson’s Senior Bowl Measurements Shock College Football Fans
Johnson was one of the most electric players in the nation during his time in Eugene, as he put up 2,010 yards and 20 touchdowns in his two-year career with the Ducks.
Before moving to Oregon, Johnson had relatively no draft hype as he began his collegiate career with the Troy Trojans. After Transferring, he exploded and now enters the 2025 NFL Draft as one of the top receiving prospects.
While Johnson was expected to be on the lighter side, the 156-pound weigh-in definitely shocked college football fans.
Ryan Edwards’ reaction basically sums up how most NFL Draft analysts and fans felt about the weight:

Another analyst said that this was the first “bad” senior bowl measurement he had seen.
This is the first *bad* Senior Bowl measurement I've seen, 156 lbs is just unacceptable for the NFL imo. On top of really small hands for Tez Johnson https://t.co/CAG8Q42PCg

While most were shocked, some took the time to point out other light receivers who compared well to Johnson.
Tez Johnson is hashtag small. The Tank Dell or Tutu Atwell comps make so much sense. https://t.co/AgBzSWFbzA

Even those who acknowledge Johnson’s ability are still worried about his weight.
Tez Johnson is a baller, 156 pounds is going to be tough though. https://t.co/zUI90U3INq

No matter how you feel about Johnson’s talent, his weight is going to hurt his draft stock.
While Johnson’s comparison to Tank Dell might not be far off talent-wise, look at how injured Dell has been in his first few years in the NFL.
The durability issue is something that GMs take largely into account during the draft, as they don’t want to draft a player who will never be on the field.
The good news for Johnson is he has the ability to showcase his toughness and put some of these concerns to rest during Senior Bowl practice all week, and then in the game itself.

If he can prove to NFL GM’s that his weight isn’t going to hold him back, Johnson may still get drafted on day one or two.
