College Football World Reacts to Arch Manning’s First Touchdown Toss for Texas

Texas phenom and former five-star recruit Arch Manning got creative for his first collegiate touchdown pass. Here's how the college football world reacted.

Texas redshirt freshman and former five-star recruit Arch Manning threw his first career touchdown pass in the third quarter of Texas’ season-opener against Colorado State, and the throw set social media ablaze.

Here are a few of the best reactions.

Arch Manning Touchdown Pass Creates Buzz Among College Football World

Manning is the nephew of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning. He was also the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 class and has some of the highest NIL-earning potential in college sports, so perhaps it’s not surprising that his 5-yard touchdown flip to Oregon State transfer Silas Bolden caused such a stir.

Maybe it’s fitting that Manning’s first career touchdown pass comes in Texas’ first game as a member of the Southeastern Conference. Manning could be the quarterback of the future. Could he lead Texas to its first SEC title?

InsideTexas writer Justin Wells had this creative response to Manning’s creativity.

Wells has seen Manning in practice over the last two years while covering the Longhorns, so he knows about Manning’s talent.

Sports media personality Pete Blackburn put it a bit simpler with this hyperbolic tweet.

Still, it shows the hype that Manning has generated simply with his name and potential.

The official Dave Campbell’s Texas Football X account commented on Manning’s touchdown announcing Manning’s arrival.

Manning is still behind Quinn Ewers on the depth chart, but Texas has to feel confident knowing who they have waiting in the wings.

This one from NFL analyst Mike Herndon is fun, presumably poking fun at Manning’s uncles, as Peyton and Eli aren’t typically known for their swag. Arch Manning does seem to play with an edge to him that seems unique among his family.

Texas students got in on the fun as well, as this video of Manning’s subsequent rushing touchdown shows. Here, we have a huge flag with a blown-up picture of Manning’s student ID. That’s one popular picture.

Manning isn’t yet the guy, but if his play on Saturday is any indication, Texas is in good hands should Ewers go down.
