College Football Player Props Friday: Maalik Murphy, Dillon Gabriel Headline Signal-Callers to Be Aware Of

Friday of Week 8 brings three Power Conference clashes, headlining some of the best college football player props available today.

Friday night sees action in four states as the Florida State Seminoles take on the Duke Blue Devils to kick it off. The Oregon Ducks take on the Purdue Boilermakers, while the Oklahoma State Cowboys take on the BYU Cougars to round out the three-game Power Conference trio. But we’ve got your Fresno State Bulldogs vs. Nevada Wolf Pack props all the same.

Never fear, after going 7-2 on player props last week, we’re back with a player prop for each of the four games on Friday ahead of the weekend. Make sure to check back tomorrow for new college football player props.

Friday Night College Football Player Props

With the four games on the docket, I’ve got a player prop from each game using the current lines from DraftKings Sportsbook odds. As with all college player props, try to get these early, as lines tend to move drastically, even with only a few bets on each prop.

Maalik Murphy (Duke) u214.5 Passing yards

Duke is 5-1 and favored against Florida State, but that doesn’t mean that the Blue Devils will simply move the ball at will on the Seminoles. Duke has thrown for less than 210 yards in each of the last two games, despite being in a negative game script for most of those games.

Duke knows that it can stop the Florida State’s offense.

When Manny Diaz and the Blue Devils have known that this season, they’ve been more conservative on offense. Expect the Blue Devils to keep the ball on the ground and grind down the Florida State defense, rather than trying to hit big plays in the passing game.

Ollie Gordon (Oklahoma State) u61.5 rushing yards

I’m all the way out on Oklahoma State’s rushing offense. The Cowboys have one of the top running backs in the sport and yet can’t move the ball at all on the ground.

I think BYU’s offense is finding its rhythm, and that likely means the Cougars run up the score on a terrible Oklahoma State defense. In that rough environment, it could get out-of-hand quickly, meaning the Cowboys’ sixth-highest passing percentage offense could take to the air early and often.

BYU’s run defense has been stout, so I don’t see Ollie Gordon having a breakout game against the Cougars.

Dillon Gabriel (Oregon) u2.5 Passing Touchdowns (+115)

Dillon Gabriel has gone over 2.5 passing touchdowns just once this season, even against overmatched opponents. Simply put, Purdue is the worst team in the Big Ten and is absolutely on quit watch. This game could get out-of-hand quickly and I don’t expect Gabriel to play much past the third quarter.

As bad as Purdue’s passing defense is, the rushing defense is worse and I’d also consider some Jordan James overs. Oregon should move the ball at will, but I’m not sure the red zone struggles are over. Expect Gabriel to play well, but don’t be surprised if Oregon scores more on the ground than through the air.

Savion Red (Nevada) ATTD (No exact odds, should be close to -110)

Nevada is back to playing great football and running back Savion Red is a huge part of that. Fresno State’s pass defense has been great, but the rush defense has been below average. The defense has prevented explosive plays, but struggled in short-yardage situations and in the red zone.

Nevada will be patient, and could ride Red when it gets close to the goal line. Even as the underdog, Nevada’s implied total gives them about three touchdowns. Especially after last week’s explosion, expect Red to be one of those scores.
