Cam Coleman arrived with the Auburn Tigers as a highly-touted receiving prospect. On3 analysts Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman are expecting big things from him this upcoming season.

Analysts Predict Big Season for Auburn WR Cam Coleman
If not for a pair of jaw-dropping receivers that burst onto the college football scene the same season he did, Coleman would’ve drawn a lot more national attention. On3 and 247Sports tabbed him as a preseason true freshman All-American a year ago, then he posted 598 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 37 receptions.
Of course, those solid figures were eclipsed by Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith, who recorded an incredible 1,315 receiving yards and 15 touchdown grabs, both Big Ten highs, on 76 catches. Alabama’s Ryan Williams, competing in the same conference as Coleman, turned in
Heading into the upcoming season, Staples is high on the tandem of Coleman and Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton Jr.
“You saw Cam Coleman coming into his own at the end of last season,” Staples said Monday on “Andy & Ari On3.” “The Texas A&M game was a good example of that, but also, Eric Singleton Jr. didn’t have that help at Georgia Tech that he’s gonna have with Cam Coleman on the outside, so both those guys together, that’ll make the quarterback play better at Auburn.”
Staples’ podcast co-host Wasserman was even bolder about how he feels Coleman will perform as a sophomore. He pointed out that Auburn was fortunate to keep Coleman around despite a 5-7 showing, the program’s fourth consecutive sub-.500 effort. If the Tigers are to improve in the campaign to come, Coleman will have his say.
“Cam Coleman will be a top-3 receiver in college football this year, period,” Wasserman said. “Same recruiting class as (Smith and Williams). Cam Coleman was a little late to the party, but he arrived this year. He is a stud muffin. Is that a weird thing to say? He’s a stud.”
Coleman, a Phenix City, Ala., native, was a five-star and the No. 3 overall recruit in 247Sports’ Class of 2024 rankings. He was rated ahead of Williams (No. 3 wideout), Texas Tech’s Micah Hudson (No. 4), and Clemson’s T.J. Moore (No.5).
“He’s fantastic,” Staples said. “I mean, those videos we were playing during his recruitment of some of the things he could do were just obscene. And, again, you saw that toward the end of last season. You saw it manifest itself on the field.”

Against Texas A&M, Coleman had seven receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns. The Tigers won that game 43-41 in four overtimes.
