New York Mets catcher Francisco Álvarez has been enjoying some downtime with his family after a long MLB season. The 23-year-old backstop recently shared clips from a relaxing pool day with his wife, Nahomi Rojas, and their daughter, Renata.
Álvarez, who finished the season on a strong note and is expected to be a key piece for the Mets next year, appeared to be making the most of his offseason with loved ones. Nahomi Rojas also took to Instagram to share moments from the same day.
She posted a mirror selfie dressed in a sleek, black one-piece swimsuit, showing off her look before heading to the pool. She also posted a video of her holding baby Renata in the water, while Álvarez shared a short clip of the family swimming together.

The couple, who became parents earlier this year, have been open with followers about balancing their new chapter of life with their public presence. Both Álvarez and Rojas have been active on social media lately, often giving fans a glimpse into their personal life.
The offseason has allowed the Mets star to spend more time with his wife and daughter after a year that tested his resilience both physically and mentally.
Danny Abriano on Francisco Álvarez’s Potential Extension
The Mets front office, led by David Stearns and Carlos Mendoza, is expected to explore every avenue to improve the team for 2026. While Álvarez’s name has been mentioned in early trade speculation, analysts believe the team should instead consider securing his future with a contract extension.
At 23, Álvarez is emerging as one of the franchise’s core players after producing his best stretch of baseball late in the 2025 season. He posted strong offensive numbers following his return from Triple-A Syracuse and showcased notable growth at the plate, including improved power and consistency.
“An extension for Alvarez is probably something it would make more sense to explore during the season, though, if he begins the year in similar fashion to the way he ended 2025 — when he slashed .276/.360/.561 with eight homers, nine doubles, and one triple in 41 games from July 21 through the end of the season,” Abriano wrote.
“He also needs to continue to hone his defense. Alvarez, who excelled after returning from the minors, also showed his toughness while playing through injuries to both of his hands down the stretch,” he added.
His defensive game remains a work in progress, but his commitment and toughness, even while managing hand injuries, have drawn praise from within the organization. Given his age, talent, and upward trajectory, Álvarez is viewed as a long-term piece for the Mets, and an extension could help solidify stability behind the plate for years to come.
