Game-Changing Charlotte Defensive Back Al-Ma’hi Ali Still Looking For Landing Spot

According to reports from ON3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong, Al-Ma’hi Ali has had scheduled visits with both Tennessee and WKU, with the Volunteers offering him as he prepares to choose where he will play next season.

Slaughter contributed six tackles and an interception for the Volunteers during his two seasons on campus.

In comparison, last season, the 49ers’ Safety contributed 55 tackles alone and two interceptions. Going into last season, Ali was also named in our Preseason All-AAC First-Team.

With Ali listing himself as able to play nickel, corner, and safety, the Charlotte 49ers can transform any secondary with his versatility. The portal prospect is currently weighing up all of his options, with the offer from Tennessee alongside a visit with Western Kentucky University last Monday.

Colorado Defensive Back Colton Hood Commits To Tennessee

While Tennessee has already made moves to resolve its depth issues at defensive back after losing three players, it has already added to its roster during the Spring window with Colorado DB Colton Hood.

‘Hood played high school football at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Georgia, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 383 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Over his career, spending time with both the Buffaloes and Auburn, Hood has amassed 27 total tackles and two interceptions, with most of his success coming with Colorado; however, with three seasons of eligibility left, the Corner will want to break out as a star upon his return to the SEC.

As the 2025 season approaches, Ali will continue to test the transfer waters. Before his stint with the 49ers, he spent one season at Saint Francis in 2022. If he accepts this offer from the Vols, he could continue his ascent, hopefully boosting his stock for the 2026 NFL Draft.
