The Sugar Bowl between the Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish has officially been postponed. After a senseless act of violence that has been treated as an act of terror on the country, officials from the city of New Orleans, both schools, and the Sugar Bowl Committee itself, the game will be moved to Thursday.

The Sugar Bowl has moved from Wednesday — New Year’s Day — to Thursday, January 2, following an act of terror that was committed in New Orleans early Wednesday morning. With a reported 15 casualties and 30 more injuries as well as ongoing investigations, shelter-in-place orders at hotels, and added security measures taking place, the game quickly became an afterthought as safety of everyone in the city of New Orleans became paramount.
When the news of the postponement came down, fans were quick to express their concern and their acknowledgement of this being the right call.
