Carson Beck’s Miami had been on a tightrope from the start of the season, a team good enough to stay in the playoff conversation but never secure enough to relax. Every week felt like a test, and every ranking reveal tightened the tension.
By the time Selection Sunday arrived, the Hurricanes sat in that uncomfortable space between promise and uncertainty, the kind of position where one committee decision could flip everything.
As the final bracket began to take shape, players, families, and fans watched with equal nerves. Miami had done its part late in the season, closing with four dominant wins and building a resume strong enough to hold up under scrutiny.
Still, nothing felt guaranteed. Notre Dame was right behind them. Alabama was right in front. And the entire conversation hung on one early-season matchup that suddenly mattered again. When Miami finally got their spot confirmed, the release was instant.
The Miami quarterback’s sister, Kylie Beck, couldn’t control her excitement once the CFP spot was secured. Moments after Miami announced their berth, she reposted the team graphic on her Instagram story and added a simple, energetic message.
“Here we GOOOOO,” Kylie wrote.

Now they’re heading into the bracket with a roster that’s grown sharper every month and an offense that’s matured at the right time. Miami’s path into the playoffs wasn’t smooth. But the committee leaned on resume, matchups, and the dominance shown by them toward the end.
In the end, the Hurricanes checked enough boxes to secure their spot.

Carson Beck Is Happy With the Team’s Offensive Progress
Carson has been open about how different the offense looks from where it stood earlier in the season. There were stretches in September and October where Miami struggled to stay efficient. The chemistry wasn’t quite there yet, and the offense spent too much time adjusting instead of dictating pace.
That changed as the schedule tightened. Beck has talked about how the group has finally settled into a flow. Protection has steadied, giving him space to work. The receivers have sharpened their timing, allowing the offense to stay on schedule.
“I just think it’s an offense just collectively as an offense, we’ve been executing, and we’ve eliminated negative plays, RPO, we’ve really done a really good job of playing discipline, but still playing fast and being explosive, which can be challenging to do at times,” Beck said. “So I mean, offensively we’ve been playing really, really well, and just looking to do that, you know, as we head into this game.”
The improvement shows everywhere. Beck’s accuracy has climbed, turnovers have dipped, and the Hurricanes are stacking productive possessions instead of searching for answers. It’s the kind of momentum that makes a playoff run feel possible.
