One of the biggest moves in college football over the last few months was Carson Beck entering the transfer portal and eventually deciding to transfer to the University of Miami to play for head coach Mario Cristobal.
Simply put, the reason why Miami wanted him is because he gets results.
Carson Beck’s Impressive Record
The Jacksonville native is one of the best college quarterbacks out there because he is a winner.
According to CBS Sports analyst Clint Brewster, Beck has a win-loss record of 24-3. The next best quarterback in terms of win-loss record to enter the transfer portal is former Washington State and current Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer (8-4).

Beck went 13-1 as the starter for Georgia in 2023 and guided them to an Orange Bowl victory. In 2024, he helped the Bulldogs reach 11 wins despite not being able to finish the season due to injury.
The Hurricanes struck gold by getting the two-time national champion in the portal and will now look to have a strong 2025 season with him.
What Miami Can Accomplish In 2025
With the addition of Beck, this Hurricanes team now has the chance to contend for a national title.
After winning 10 games overall for the first time since the 2017 season and after winning at least six conference games for just the third time since 2005, Cristobal now has the best roster that he has had while he has been the head coach at Miami.
Heading into the 2025 season, the Beck-led Hurricanes are going to have to contend with the reigning ACC champions in the Clemson Tigers, who also made the College Football Playoff. They will also have to take on the Bill Belichick-led North Carolina Tar Heels, who appear to be a bit of a wildcard at this point in time. A team like the SMU Mustangs, who were flirting with the CFP and an ACC title, could also be a team to keep an eye on.

But to win games in the sport of football, you need to have competent play from the quarterback position. Cristobal and Miami certainly have that and more with the arrival of Beck this offseason.
