Colorado Buffaloes safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig sent a short but meaningful message to former Jackson State standout Anthony Petty during JSU’s recent Pro Day. Petty, who declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, participated in the event and received some public support from Silmon-Craig.
Petty spent three seasons at Jackson State, including one under head coach Deion Sanders. Sanders led JSU before taking over at Colorado, where he’s become one of the most prominent coaches in college football.

Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig’s 5-Word Message to Anthony Petty
Silmon-Craig shared a post to his Instagram story tagging the Jackson State football account, which had highlighted several of its Pro Day participants—including Petty.
Alongside Petty’s photo, Silmon-Craig added a five-word caption: “Go To Work My Brudda,” followed by a heart and dolphin emoji.
Petty finished the 2024 season with nine total tackles—six solo and three assisted—along with two passes defended and a career-high three interceptions for 48 yards.
Silmon-Craig, who has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, is coming off a breakout season with the Buffaloes. He posted a career-best 89 total tackles, including 64 solo and 25 assisted [stat check recommended]. He also recorded three passes defended, two sacks, one forced fumble, one interception, and 17 return yards—marking personal bests in nearly every defensive category.
Reflecting on his time at Colorado, Silmon-Craig emphasized the importance of leaving a lasting impact on the program.
“So we didn’t get a chance to play for a Big 12 championship or a national championship, but we still want to see that happen here. We still want these guys to go do something. I talk to the newcomer freshmen, the early enrollees guys all the time, just because they’re building something here.”
“We’re really building something. We are the guys that you’ll remember that started this.”
“I just make sure I pass that standard down,” he added. “It’s very important … It’s a difference for me because the guys that came in in December, like the early enrollees, I can just tell they’re different.”
“I can tell it’s a different mentality…these guys working their b**t off in practice already and only had like two or three practices. So it’s going to be great. It’s especially important to make sure you keep passing it down.”
