Cam Ward’s 2025 NFL Draft Odds Are on the Rise — Is He a Legitimate No. 1 Pick?

With the 2025 NFL Draft fast approaching, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward has emerged as the frontrunner for the No. 1 overall selection. His draft stock has soared, making him the consensus top choice among scouts and analysts.

After starting as a zero-star, unrecruited high school recruit, Ward advanced through Incarnate Word and Washington State before transferring to Miami. In his final season, he led the nation with 39 passing touchdowns, posted a 67.2% completion rate, and showcased remarkable arm strength and poise in the pocket. The NFL Draft is set for April 24.

Cam Ward’s NFL Draft Stock Soars

Ward’s path to becoming the projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft has been remarkable. After transferring to Miami for his final collegiate season, Ward elevated a once-mediocre Hurricanes program into a College Football Playoff contender, narrowly missing a berth.

His impressive performance has significantly boosted his draft odds. Initially set at +450, Ward’s odds to go first overall shifted to -190, later improving further to -295, indicating growing confidence among analysts and oddsmakers.

The Tennessee Titans currently hold the No. 1 pick, and betting trends suggest they may pass on trading down to select Ward. FanDuel’s odds for Ward being the top selection have surged from -155 to -320, while DraftKings offers a slightly more favorable -295. Meanwhile, Tennessee’s odds of keeping the first pick rose from -120 to as high as -175. The New York Giants, another contender for the top spot, are listed at +135 on FanDuel.

Recently, HOF Kurt Warner endorsed Ward as the No.1 quarterback choice while appearing on The Joel Klatt Show.

“Cam has a little extra. He’s got a little uniqueness with his ability to throw the football. I think that’s what catapults him to the top of the class. When you watch him play compared to these other guys —Shedeur or Jaxson or Tyler— I don’t think you watch them and say, ‘Oh gosh, he’s so much better in all these areas,’” Warner stated.

“I just think he’s got a little uniqueness to the way he throws the football, maybe a little more muscle on the ball, has the ability to throw off-platform. So, I think you put him at the top just because of that ‘what if’ — what if that talent translates to the next level.”

Earlier in his career, Ward earned the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year award at Incarnate Word before transferring to Washington State, where he totaled 6,963 passing yards, 48 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions, plus 13 rushing touchdowns across 25 games.
