On Tuesday afternoon, BYU Athletic Director Tom Holmoe announced his retirement after the academic year. Holmoe was the AD at BYU for 20 years and oversaw many impactful Cougars moments, including the introduction to the Big 12, multiple bowl wins, and success on the basketball court.

Holmoe had a major role in getting Sitake back to BYU as head coach in 2015, highlighting his ability to pick and support leaders who reflect the university’s standards and competitive spirit.
A Cougar’s Legacy
During his time in Provo, Holme was instrumental in moving Brigham Young to the Big 12.
Beyond wins and conference reorganization, he has worked as a mentor and promoter for student-athletes and coaches across multiple sports. His dedication to academic brilliance and personal development has guaranteed that BYU athletes have the tools for success on and off the field.
