Latest Brady Cook Injury Update Puts Playing Time In Doubt vs. Alabama

Brady Cook injured his ankle against Auburn in Week 8, and his latest injury update for the Alabama game puts the Tigers season in jeopardy.

The Missouri Tigers faithful watched in horror as their season slipped, literally, in front of them in Week 8. When star quarterback Brady Cook dropped back to pass on a 2nd & 8 from inside opponent territory, he nearly took a tumble that derailed the Tigers’ entire season.

He returned to the field and led a comeback to salvage Missouri’s season, but the latest diagnosis puts Missouri’s game against Alabama in jeopardy.

    What Happened to Brady Cook?

It was a simple 2nd & 8 dropback early in the second quarter against Auburn. Cook dropped back to pass from the shotgun and as he went to plant his back foot and move away from a collapsing pocket, it was clear something was wrong.

Cook’s legs buckled and he tried to run away from pressure, but it looks like his legs couldn’t hold up any longer than he already had. He dove to avoid taking a sack on what appeared to be just one leg.

Cook lightly jogged off the field, grimacing and not putting weight on his injured leg in the process.

He was later seen heading into the locker room under his own power.

As bad as it was, however, it was stated on the broadcast that it was an ‘ankle injury’ and he would be getting the ankle taped and he would likely return to the game.

Following the halftime break, Cook famously returned to the action, stating his intentions were not to sit and watch his few opportunities left to play for Missouri slip by him.

Now, with the Tigers’ season in the balance, Cook’s latest update ahead of Week 9 is not good.

Is Brady Cook Playing vs. Alabama?

As it stands right now, Cook is doubtful to play against Alabama. The last injury report given from the Missouri coaching staff listed Cook as doubtful, citing the ankle injury as the reason why.

It appears that he’ll be a game-time decision, but at this point, it doesn’t look too good for the leader of the Tigers offense.

In his place would likely be Drew Pyne. A multi-time transfer, Pyne played in relief of Cook against Auburn just last week.

Pyne played football for three different schools during his five years in college. Against Auburn, Pyne attempted 21 passes, completing just 10 of them for 78 yards.
