While there aren’t any DFS picks at the time of writing, there are multiple players to keep an eye on for fantasy purposes.
In Jamey Chadwell fantasy football players trust, and that continues at Liberty. Chadwell’s unique offense brings some flare to the Flames, and the talent level should thrive once they get the hang of the new scheme.
The battle between Kaidon Salter and Johnathan Bennett continues, but the winner inherits a fun system full of playmakers. Quinton Cooley, Billy Lucas, and Vaughn Blue all give fantasy owners options at the running back position, and all three should be able to make an impact on this unit.
Noah Frith and CJ Daniels figure to be the go-to receivers for Liberty, and that also might help determine who wins the quarterback battle.
Bowling Green surprised us last year in terms of success but also fantasy value. While Matt McDonald departs, Connor Bazelak and Camden Orth should help ease the transition. They both get to throw to Odieu Hiliare, who’s a proven weapon for the Falcons offense already.
The running back room is an underrated group for this offense, where Terion Stewart, Jaison Patterson, and Ta’ron Keith all return. All three have the chance to break 1,000 yards for their careers this year.
Prediction for Bowling Green vs. Liberty
Jamey Chadwell’s arrival gives Liberty fans a great deal of excitement. The offense returns a number of key playmakers that could have a major impact on the season, and it starts with the quarterbacks.
Johnathan Bennett and Kaidon Salter return to battle for the starting quarterback job, and we should expect Chadwell to run both of them early in the year. Both showed they could run the football, but the winner of the starting job will be the one who can provide consistent play as a passer.
The skill position talent isn’t lacking by any means. Running back appears to be deep, and the pass catchers return plenty of potential. The defense will be the concern for now. Kendy Charles is a beast up front, while Tyren Dupree, Kobe Singleton, and Quinton Reese give them solid options at linebacker and in the secondary.
Bowling Green’s 2022 season was a wild ride. They lost to Eastern Kentucky at home in Week 2 but recovered to make a bowl game. Quarterback will be a position to watch with Connor Bazelak and Camden Orth competing, though throwing the ball to Odieu Hiliare makes life easy.
The defense returns a good core; however stopping this unique offense that Liberty runs will test them. If the Falcons can handle this scheme, they’ll hang around for a while. Throw in their own offense getting the ball rolling early, and we now have the makings of a back-and-forth battle.
