The Eagles are on a couple of streaks right now, and there’s no reason they won’t continue:

    • Over in six straight games
    • Covered in five straight

The Cornhuskers are on an interesting streak as well. Since October, they’ve seen the total go under, over, under, over, under, over, under … so the over is the play, right?

Against-the-spread-wise, Nebraska hasn’t been fruitful, only covering twice in their last seven contests.

    Boston College’s Winning Probability

Boston College has hovered around the 5-7 win mark for over a decade, but they’re banking on Bill O’Brien to elevate the program beyond mediocrity. O’Brien notched seven wins in his first season, and a victory over Nebraska would make it eight.

    Nebraska’s Winning Probability

Matt Rhule, meanwhile, has been methodically rebuilding the Cornhuskers. He inherited a 4-8 team, improved to 5-7 in Year 1, and reached 6-6 in Year 2 with a true freshman quarterback at the helm. Winning their first bowl game since 2015 would be a huge morale boost for the fanbase, the roster, and potential transfer portal targets.

Prediction for Boston College vs. Nebraska

Transfers are set to play a significant role in this matchup, with neither team escaping unscathed.

Boston College currently has eight players in the portal, including QB Thomas Castellanos. However, Nebraska’s situation is far worse, with over 20 players transferring out and a depleted depth chart as a result.

While Castellanos is in the portal, he wasn’t the starter by season’s end. Backup Grayson James took over for the last three games and capped off the regular season with his best performance: 20 completions on 28 attempts for 253 yards, two touchdowns, and zero turnovers against Pittsburgh.

MORE: BC, Nebraska Players Not Playing in Pinstripe Bowl

Nebraska’s defense, a unit that leaned on its run-stopping prowess, is now without several key players, including EDGEs Princewill Umanmielen, James Williams, and Jimari Butler, as well as LBs Mikai Gbayor and Stefon Thompson. Losing five contributors from the front seven makes it difficult to gauge how effective the defense will be.

Given Nebraska’s defensive losses and Boston College’s relatively intact offense, I’m leaning toward the Eagles. Their ability to stay consistent offensively should be enough to outscore Dylan Raiola and the Cornhuskers in what could be a tightly contested game.

Prediction: Boston College 31, Nebraska 27
