Bill Belichick’s move to the UNC has strengthen his legacy as one of the greatest coaches ever, not only for his football intellect but also for leading through personal scrutiny. At 73, the eight-time Super Bowl winner and NFL’s second-winningest coach addressed public attention surrounding his relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson.

Bill Belichick Clears the Air on UNC’s Future Plans While Addressing Relationship with Jordan Hudson
Belichick directly addressed public scrutiny regarding his relationship with Hudson, emphasizing that the matter has no bearing on the football program.
Speaking to ESPN during the ACC spring meetings, the 73-year-old coach confirmed he has spoken with his team about the attention surrounding Hudson, 24, but dismissed it as irrelevant to the Tar Heels’ goals.
“I mean, that’s really off to the side. It’s a personal relationship, and she doesn’t have anything to do with UNC football,” Belichick said in a SportsCenter interview.
Belichick also reinforced his focus on football, noting the importance of the upcoming recruiting cycle and fall preparation.
“I’m excited to be back in the coaches’ meetings and getting ready for June and then August and we get the training camp. So June will be a big recruiting month for us and then August we’ll start get ready for the season,” he said.
Recent rumors suggested Hudson had been banned from the team’s facilities, but UNC quickly refuted those claims.
“There had never been any push to keep Hudson away from the athletics department or facilities,” athletic director Bubba Cunningham told ESPN.
He praised Belichick’s leadership style, saying,
“Bill’s been great to work with. He talked about practicing like a pro and he runs a professional organization that is teaching students how to be professional in all aspects of their life.”
Cunningham also dismissed any concerns about potential off-field distractions.
“Bill is an incredibly focused person,” he added.
Belichick, whose relationship with Hudson has drawn national headlines, was seen attending the Miss Maine beauty pageant last weekend, where Hudson finished as the second runner-up. The couple’s dynamic made waves in April when Hudson interrupted Belichick’s CBS Sunday Morning interview as he was asked about their relationship, interjecting from off-camera,
“We’re not talking about that.”
Despite growing media attention, Belichick reiterated his belief that his personal life will not affect the team.
“I talked to the players when we meet with them. We want to make the players the best they can be and giving them the best opportunity on and off the field,” he said.

Though Belichick has not made UNC players available to the press since taking the job six months ago, he expressed satisfaction with their spring progress. On managing expectations for his first college season, he said,
“Try to stack good days together. Good day, come back, build higher the next day. It’s not about where we’re going to be X-number of months or weeks from now.”
