Bill Belichick may go down as the best head coach of all time. If not the best, definitely one of them. The long-time New England Patriots head coach has eight Super Bowl Rings, six of them with the Patriots and two as a Defensive Coordinator with the New York Giants.
However, it is rumored that Belichick is close to getting his ninth ring, but not in football. Rumors are surfacing that Belichick recently proposed to his girlfriend of over two years, Jordon Hudson. She was seen at the Raleigh-Durham airport wearing jewelry on her left hand.
It is unclear if it is a large diamond engagement ring, and neither has confirmed their engagement. However, another clue that the two might be engaged is that Belichick recently renamed his boat to “I + VIII Rings.”

Ever since the two became public in June 2024, they have constantly been in the headlines and discussed on social media. Most people have brought up their 49-year age gap. Others have brought up her influence and impact on her boyfriend or possible future husband’s life.
For example, after Belichick announced he was going to become the college football coach of the University of North Carolina on Dec. 11, 2024. A few months ago, UNC was named to be featured on an HBO documentary similar to Hard Knocks but for college football.

However, less than a week later, the two sides, both Belichick and the school, could not reach an agreement.
Many have speculated that the two could not reach an agreement due to Hudson’s comments and demands. Many have speculated that she made a lot of demands, including content approval and partial ownership of the show. However, Belichick mentioned that it was not the reason the show fell apart, as he gave a very straightforward answer.
“That’s not what we are. The drama of training camp, who’s a cut and all that. We’re a season, and they don’t want that. Yeah, there are film issues, too, but forget about the film issues. Just say you could straighten all those out, Hard Knocks just didn’t fit for us.”
Two weeks ago, the school hired former Chicago Bears PR Chief Brandon Faber to help the school.
However, he will most likely work more with the football team, as he was interestingly hired right around the same time the Hard Knocks deal fell apart. His other responsibilities are managing the public image of all UNC athletics and helping out with branding and NIL.
Whether Hudson and Belichick like it or not, their relationship will be constantly talked about and in the public eye, especially in Chapel Hill, where it has potentially impacted the football team.
However, some North Carolina football fans do not care about the stuff outside the football field and are only focused on one of the greats building this stellar football program.
So far, the Tar Heels are doing an excellent job at that. They are currently No. 9 in the country and third in the ACC in transfer portal recruiting, having brought in seven four-star recruits.

One of them is former Gators safety Gregory Smith III, who was widely regarded as one of the best players in the portal and has three years of eligibility remaining. Once the season starts late in the summer and early in the fall, the Belichick era as a college coach officially begins.
It is unknown if he can have the same success in college as he did in the NFL, especially with the NIL era. However, if there is anybody worthy of an opportunity, Belichick certainly belongs in the conversation.
