Crossing Enemy Lines: Bill Belichick Eyes UNC Coaching Job with Revolutionary 400-Page Blueprint

Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels are close to a deal. Could a 400-page "organizational bible" be the key to Belichick's potential tenure?

Bill Belichick to the North Carolina Tar Heels could actually happen. But his potential hiring doesn’t come without a caveat.

Belichick reportedly approached North Carolina with a one-of-its-kind 400-page blueprint outlining his plans and requests for the university to fulfill. What’s in this “organizational bible,” and what does it mean for the outlook on a potential tenure on Chapel Hill?

Bill Belichick Approaches North Carolina with 400-Page Organizational Bible

It was first reported that Belichick and the Tar Heels had mutual interest last week. Many, including me, scoffed at the idea of the 72-year-old coaching at the college level, especially at a school that just fired 73-year-old Mack Brown.

However, it seems that Belichick is a bit more prepared for the college game than many expected.

According to NFL insider Ollie Connolly, Belichick has a lengthy blueprint outlining his plans for the school. While he’s made documents like this before, outlining his general plans for a college coaching job, this particular “organizational bible” is specific to North Carolina.

In the above thread, Connolly outlines the basics of Belichick’s plan, and in connecting the dots, it could be the hold-up in the official announcement.

Belichick’s plan requires substantial investment from one of the few colleges that cares far more about basketball than football. It would be costly, and the investment would be unprecedented.

That plan includes lofty budgets for two separate staffs: an on-field coaching staff and an off-field recruiting and Name, Image, and Likeness staff led by a general manager.

In short, the plan takes a professional approach to college football, with an organizational structure that more closely resembles the New England Patriots than the North Carolina Tar Heels.

At the very least, Belichick’s organizational bible proves he’s carefully considered the investment needed to be a college head coach. He would bring a CEO-led model to Chapel Hill, something more schools like from their coaches.

Belichick’s job wouldn’t be to recruit, scout players in the transfer portal, or even have his hand in the day-to-day operations.

Instead, Belichick’s primary responsibilities would be to coach football and delegate tasks to a large staff.

The revelation of this blueprint sheds light on North Carolina’s desire to hire the legendary NFL coach.

Whether the potential move pays off remains to be seen.
