“Absolutely Burn Everything To The Ground” – Florida State Fans Furious After Softball Superstar Isa Torres Leaves Team

The Florida State Seminoles announced a surprising roster change for the upcoming season: star shortstop Isa Torres, a highly accomplished player in the program’s history, has announced she will enter the NCAA transfer portal in search of a new challenge in her collegiate career. This marks the end of her three-year stint with the Seminoles as a junior.

This year, Torres had one of the best seasons of her career, winning the ACC Player of the Year, as voted by the league’s head coaches, and the D1 Softball Player of the Year. She was a finalist for the USA Softball National Player of the Year award, which was ultimately awarded to Nebraska pitcher Jordy Frahm. Torres had shared her announcement on X.

Fans were quick to share their reactions to Torres’s shocking departure, with some voicing their anger at the Seminoles athletic department for failing to retain the program’s stars for an extended period.

“Absolutely burn everything to the ground. Complete failure by this athletic department to not keep one of the greatest athletes in Florida State history,” one fan commented.

“Yes, it is pathetic; it seems like admin wants everything to be destined for mediocrity. Except maybe the soccer program lol,” another fan commented.

“You guys can’t even keep softball players. That is a shame… The only sport that you are actually good at now, Clown program,” yet another fan commented.

Other fans wished Torres the best of luck in her future endeavors while asserting that she had the right to explore new opportunities in life. Furthermore, they stated that Torres might even have understood that she wasn’t going to win a championship with FSU.

“Can’t blame her for wanting to make more money. I absolutely blame the athletic department for not coming up with the money to keep her,” one fan commented.

“She knew she wasn’t going to get a title at FSU! Money isn’t always the problem!” another fan commented.

“She’s AMAZING!! She deserves the BEST team that is going to pay her very well!! She will always be a NOLE in her heart. That’s the kind of person she is!! Whatever team gets her, she deserves to be respected because of her skills!! She will be VERY MISSED,” yet another fan commented.

Isa Torres Expressed Her Utmost Gratitude to the Florida State Softball Program

In her farewell message to the program and the dedicated fans of the Seminoles, Torres conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to the softball team, also thanking them for an incredible three years at FSU, during which she developed strong trust and partnerships with a talented roster.

“To the Seminole family, this has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make. After a great deal of thought, prayer, and conversations with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal and pursue the next chapter of my softball journey. Florida State has given me more than I could ever put into words,” Torres wrote.

“Coach Alameda and the entire coaching staff believed in me, challenged me, and helped me grow every day. My teammates became family, and the memories we created together will stay with me forever. This decision is not about leaving something behind; it is about pursuing a new opportunity and embracing a new challenge,” she added.

“My respect, appreciation, and love for FSU remain unchanged… To our fans—thank you for supporting me through every high and low and for welcoming me and my family with open arms… No matter where my journey takes me next, a piece of my heart will always belong to Florida State,” Torres concluded.

FSU did not advance to the 2026 NCAA Women’s College World Series (WCWS). Although the Seminoles softball team secured the No. 9 national seed and participated in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, they were eliminated in the Tallahassee Regional after losses to both Stetson and UCF, ending a great regular season.
