Report: Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson Expected to Enter Transfer Portal

According to reports, Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson is expected to enter the transfer portal after five years with the Razorbacks. Here's the latest on his status.

One of the SEC’s more accomplished passers may be on the move this offseason. Here’s the latest on the status of Arkansas Razorbacks QB KJ Jefferson, who reportedly is set to find a new home via the transfer portal.

KJ Jefferson Expected to Enter Transfer Portal

According to 247 CFB and Transfer Portal writer Chris Hummer, Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson is expected to enter the transfer portal after five seasons with the Razorbacks.

This report comes less than a day after it was revealed that long-time CFB coach Bobby Petrino was finalizing an agreement to become the Razorbacks’ new offensive coordinator under head coach Sam Pittman.

For four of his five seasons at Arkansas, Jefferson played under Pittman and the two experienced modest success at their peak.

Jefferson completed 626 of 962 pass attempts for 7,911 yards, 67 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions across three years as the full-time starter. He also ran for 1,876 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Jefferson and Pittman scored bowl game victories in both 2021 and 2022 and finished the 2021 season ranked inside the Top 25. Jefferson was a preseason All-SEC honoree ahead of 2023, but the team experienced a regression and went 4-8, falling out of bowl contention.

At 6’3″, 245 pounds, with three years of starting experience, Jefferson will grant an intriguing balance to any team that brings him on. He has the experience to hit the ground running in a new offense, but he also has the raw talent to provide value as a passer and runner.

This move will also serve as a bid for Jefferson to potentially improve his draft stock in the 2025 NFL Draft cycle. He was seen as a potential sleeper ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft cycle, but his stock stagnated in 2023.
