Earlier in the week, ESPN college football analyst Cole Cubelic discussed how the Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Kalen DeBoer performed this past season.
While discussing a variety of topics regarding the Crimson Tide on the popular YouTube channel “Alabama Crimson Tide on AL.com,” Cubelic detailed how close the Crimson Tide came to winning the SEC this season despite the campaign being deemed a failure by fans and media alike.

What Did Cole Cubelic Say About the Alabama Crimson Tide?
In addition, he explained how with the increased use of recruiting and the transfer portal, next season will feature a lot more movement in college football that results in “talent that’s dispersed across more teams.”
In recent months, there have been discussions about what the increased movement and introduction of financial incentives could mean for programs that were once considered dynasties.
Though some believe that powerhouse programs like Alabama will continue to thrive, others have raised concerns about whether this movement will result in more parity amongst teams, resulting in less dominance by once dominant and legendary programs.
Cubelic outlined how there was not too much separating the Crimson Tide and the winners of the SEC this year despite the year being dubbed a failure for Alabama. He also detailed how he expects more variation year after year with the new college sports format.
Cubelic stated, “We’re in a different era of college football. I’ll put it to you this way. Who won the SEC this year? [Georgia] You know how many wins they finished with? 10. How many did Alabama finish with? [Nine]. Yeah, and it’s a failure of a season, right?
“There’s going to be more games, there’s going to be more kids going different places, there’s going to be more talent that’s dispersed across more teams throughout college football.”
Alabama Crimson Tide 2025 Outlook
The Crimson Tide are expected to lose numerous players to the NFL later this year. In College Sports Network’s recent 2025 NFL Draft Top 300 Big Board, Alabama had five players ranked within the Top 250.
G Tyler Booker (No. 25), LB Jihaad Campbell (No. 33), QB Jalen Milroe (No. 39), S Malachi Moore (No. 103), and TE C.J. Dippre (No. 241) were all listed on the big board.

As a result, DeBoer will need to remain active in recruiting and the transfer portal if Alabama wants to return to college football’s elite next season.
