The focus of any NFL Draft cycle always revolves around the quarterbacks, and the 2025 NFL Draft has been no different. The prospects have been analyzed in detail, but scouts and analysts remain conflicted over how many could be selected in the first round.
Let’s take a look at which quarterbacks could land in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft and examine why the over/under line is so contentious.

How Many Quarterbacks Could Be Selected in the 2025 NFL Draft First Round?
The over/under for the number of quarterbacks drafted in the first round is currently set at 2.5 on DraftKings. The bookmaker favors the over with odds of -360. For those who prefer the under, the odds for fewer than 2.5 quarterbacks being drafted in the first round are +260.
Cam Ward is guaranteed to be a first-round prospect and is -20000 to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and become a Tennessee Titan. He is followed by Colorado Buffaloes passer Shedeur Sanders, whose draft placement is tricky to predict.
His draft position over/under is set at 8.5, with the New Orleans Saints currently +195 to draft the Buffaloes’ quarterback.
If that were to happen it would be the first time the Saints have drafted a quarterback in the first round since Archie Manning in 1971.
Ward and Sanders top the 2025 NFL Draft quarterback class and are consensus first-round prospects, with Jaxson Dart becoming a wildcard in recent months.
The Ole Miss Rebels quarterback would be a considerable overdraft if selected on Day 1, as he has several deficiencies to work on, such as his arm strength, slow progressions, and inconsistent mechanics.
However, it won’t be the first time a quarterback has been drafted ahead of where their ranking would suggest.
The quarterback position comes with a premium, and history tends to favor the over. An average of 3.33 quarterbacks were selected in the first round over the last three drafts, including six in 2024.
Dart’s current draft positioning over/under is 24.5, appearing to suggest that if the Rebels’ passer is going to be drafted in the first round, it could be a team trading up. The Minnesota Vikings have the 24th pick in the first round and only have four selections in the entire draft.

Kevin O’Connell’s side has long been thought of as a potential trade candidate for teams looking to move up as the Vikings trade back and collect more picks.
If that scenario were to present itself, then the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are two teams who could be interested. However, as we edge closer to Roger Goodell opening up the 2025 NFL Draft, Dart’s stock has slid. In fact, the Ole Miss product who had initially accepted an invite to attend the draft in Green Bay will no longer be in attendance.
A quarterback who will be in attendance is Jalen Milroe. The Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback, who has rarely been featured in the first-round discussion, has accepted an invitation to attend the draft. Adding fuel to the speculation that a team could be interested in moving up into the first round to secure his services.
Whether bettors lay the over or under will come down to their thoughts on Dart and Milroe. At 2.5, it will take one of them to be drafted in the first round for the line to cash in. Neither hold first-round grades, and we saw similar speculation in a bad quarterback class in 2022, when only Kenny Pickett was drafted in the first round. Could history repeat itself?
Which Quarterbacks Could Be Selected in the 2025 NFL Draft First Round?
In our most recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft, only Ward and Sanders landed in the first round. Analysts continue to debate Dart’s stock and remain divided over his potential landing spot.
To summarize the quarterback class, Ward is the top-rated quarterback on CSN’s 2025 NFL Draft Top 300 Big Board but is ranked as the 29th overall prospect. Further down, Sander sits at No. 44. It is then a long way down to find the next potential quarterback prospect, with Dart and Milroe sitting outside of the top 100.
It isn’t a great year to need a quarterback, but that hasn’t stopped the NFL from inflating the draft stock of passing prospects before.
