Todd McShay’s mock draft positions the New York Giants as the team to select edge rusher Abdul Carter from Penn State in this year’s NFL draft on April 24.

Todd McShay Questions Passing Up On Blue-Chip Talent
McShay said it’s not worth selecting a “quarterback who doesn’t carry that type of grade,” referring to Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart.
McShay commented about Carter, as he has the Tennessee Titans taking Cam Ward at No. 1 and the Cleveland Browns taking Travis Hunter at No. 2.
He also said that the Giants “get arguably the best player in the class, whose positional value is considered by most as second only to quarterback at pick No. 3. Carter’s versatility will allow defensive coordinator Shane Bowen to drive opposing quarterbacks wild.”
The only challenge for Carter going to the Giants at No. 3 is that his medical evaluations must be satisfactory. Shoulder and foot injuries were part of his 2024 season at Penn State, and he did not participate in Penn State’s recent pro day workouts.

McShay also projected that the Giants will take Jalen Milroe, the Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback who was recently invited to the draft.
Reviews of McShay’s mock were posted on Big Blue View this morning, and Ed Valentine’s article noted that “the Giants trade picks 34 and 65 to the Minnesota Vikings to move to 24 and select the player who could be the highest ceiling/lowest floor quarterback in this draft class.”
McShay also said that with “Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the building, there is no pressure for Milroe to play immediately. Milroe’s physical traits can’t be taught, but he can be coached like Josh Allen when he entered the NFL. Give coach Brian Daboll an elite athlete and see what he can do with him over time.”
