As the 2025 NFL Draft draws near, it’s becoming more and more apparent that Shedeur Sanders will be in the top five. The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback has quickly made his presence felt as one of the top quarterbacks in the draft class.
Alongside Cam Ward, Sanders has established himself as one of college football’s premier quarterbacks. However, his father, Deion Sanders, is drawing ire towards his son’s draft with this particular trait.

Deion Sanders’ Trait is Drawing Ire Toward Shedeur Sanders Draft
Joel Klatt of The Joel Klatt Show spoke about Coach Primes’ particular trait, which is drawing some ire towards Sanders ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. This trait goes back to when Deion played football, and unfortunately for his son, he is catching the ire of people because of that.
Deion has been one of the best showmen in the NFL. This could arguably make some teams angry and shy about drafting his son, as he could bring unnecessary attention to their product if he follows in his father’s footsteps.
Klatt went on to say he thinks it’s very unfair for Shadeur. “I’m going to have Shedeur going to New York, and you know how I feel about him,” says Klatt. “I believe he can be surgical when he’s protected, and he can be a magician when he’s not. How many guys can do that?”
“Colorado was a one-win team. They were terrible for two decades. And when I say terrible, I mean terrible. They had one winning football season in two decades before Shedeur Sanders got there. And yes, you can give a lot of credit to Deion, and certainly, as the head coach, you can command a lot of credit,” says Klatt.
“You can give a lot of credit to the Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter. But he didn’t have the football in his hands on every single play. Do you know the reason Colorado improved so drastically and so quickly? Shedeur Sanders. And now I believe he can do the same in the NFL for his next franchise, and I believe that will be the New York Giants.”
“I really like Shedeur’s game. I know he has taken some arrows in this process, and guess what? It is as old as time that we get a polarizing player because someone doesn’t like him, and people don’t like his brashness or whatever it is. In this case, it’s because of the name on his back, and his dad happens to be the head coach of Colorado and happens to be, I would say… Deion was the first of what has now become a showman.”

“He was probably and probably still is the greatest showman in the history of sports,” Klatt says. “So, Shedeur is catching the ire of people because of that. That’s why everyone is attacking his draft stock.”
