Julian Lewis, who is only 17 years old, is already drawing comparisons to Aaron Rodgers. The five-star recruit has already committed to the Colorado Buffaloes. While it won’t be an easy task for Colorado as they do it without Travis Hunter and Shadeur Sanders, Lewis hopes to be the next great quarterback for Colorado.

Is Colorado’s Julian Lewis the Next Aaron Rodgers?
Lewis received offers from other college football powerhouses like Georgia and Ohio State. However, Lewis ultimately chose to go to Colorado and learn under the legendary Deion Sanders and hopefully take over the reins at the quarterback spot and try to fill the shoes left by Sanders.
A video circulated on X, formerly known as Twitter, showing videos of Lewis throwing some passes. He’s already drawing comparisons to the four-time NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers. The speed of Lewis’s throwing motion and release is similar to the way Rodgers throws the ball.

“He definitely has some Aaron Rodgers in that release,” wrote one fan. While another wrote:
“You are talking about me.
I have been the one praising this.
He has some Aaron Rodgers in his release 💯”
Lewis is gearing up for a quarterback battle ahead of the upcoming 2025 season. Lewis will be battling with former Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter. “Honestly, I think looking at it, it was the building process of the organization.”
“The program just trying to build up from Coach Prime getting here to them building their record and doing all the stuff they’ve done. It was hard to pass up the opportunity to come here under Prime,” Lewis said.
Lewis had the chance to get to know Shadeur Sanders already too. He spoke about how important to him that meeting Sanders was. “It is definitely a blessing for me to have a guy like him that just came over the top of me,” Lewis said.
“Just looking at it from another black quarterback is always good to hear from. Even the older guys that have retired understanding their path. It’s humbling.”

Lewis kept his goals short for the upcoming season. “Honestly, just to grow and get stronger, learn the offense. Of course, everybody thinks it is a quarterback battle and stuff like that, but we have such great quarterbacks in the room and such great personalities,” Lewis said. “I just love being around the guys every day and just happy to be here.”
There’s no guarantee that Lewis will start right away for Colorado. However, he is working hard to learn the offense and be ready if given the opportunity to play sooner rather than later.
Despite being only 17 years old, Lewis has shown maturity and a lot of potential to be able to play at a collegiate level already.
