    Clemson and FSU’s Future in the ACC

    The states, like Clemson and Florida, and the ACC had voted to settle lawsuits over the conference’s granting of rights and TV revenue.

    Both schools sued the ACC last year, discussing issues regarding the media deal that limits their earnings and competitiveness. FSU has already been displeased with the ACC’s contract with ESPN, and Clemson has also questioned the legality of the rights grant if one of the schools leaves.

    The ACC suggested the emerging issues between both schools, which had agreed to the terms and waited too long to challenge them. As per the suggested settlement, Clemson and FSU will receive a larger share of TV revenue.

    How Many Teams Make Up the ACC in College Football?

    Last year, in 2024, the ACC had 17 teams.

    In 2023, it had 14 schools competing in ACC football as follows: Florida State, Louisville, NC State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Duke, Miami, Boston College, Syracuse, Virginia, Pitt, and Wake Forest.

    Later on, the ACC also added Stanford and Cal from the Pac-12 and invited SMU from the AAC. Notre Dame remained independent but played many games as a rival to ACC teams.
