Kurt Warner Names His Top QB for the 2025 NFL Draft

Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner recently shared his thoughts on the 2025 NFL Draft’s quarterback class, highlighting one standout player: Cam Ward from the University of Miami. Appearing on “The Joel Klatt Show,” Warner confidently identified Ward as his top quarterback choice.

“Cam has a little extra,” Warner explained. “He’s got a little uniqueness with his ability to throw the football. I think that’s what catapults him to the top of the class.”

Warner compared Ward’s skill set to other prominent quarterbacks like Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart. While acknowledging their comparable decision-making and timing, Warner emphasized Ward’s distinct throwing ability.

“When you watch him play compared to these other guys —Shedeur or Jaxson or Tyler— I don’t think you watch them and say, ‘Oh gosh, he’s so much better in all these areas,'” Warner remarked.

“I just think he’s got a little uniqueness to the way he throws the football, maybe a little more muscle on the ball, has the ability to throw off-platform. So I think you put him at the top just because of that ‘what if’ — what if that talent translates to the next level.”

During his three seasons at the FBS level, Ward amassed 11,281 passing yards and 87 touchdowns while completing 66% of his passes. While Warner praised Ward’s potential, he acknowledged his own limitations as a draft analyst.

“I’m not a draft guy,” Warner stated. “So, I don’t go back and watch every single snap that all of these guys have. To me, it’s getting a sense of who they were in college, getting a sense of what they do well, and then I’ll let somebody else project where they go or what they’re going to be at the NFL level because I just think it’s such an inexact science that I’m not trying to get into that world.”

Warner’s own NFL career saw him throw for 32,344 yards, 208 touchdowns, and post a 93.7 passer rating. The Super Bowl XXXIV MVP and four-time Pro Bowler led the Rams to two Super Bowl appearances, including a record-setting 414-yard passing performance in one game.
