The Kansas City Chiefs are setting their sights on two of college football’s top running backs as they look to strengthen their backfield, as head coach Andy Reid recently held official meetings with Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo and Ohio State’s Quinshon Judkins.

Chiefs Call CFB Stars Cam Skattebo and Quinshon Judkins for a Meeting

In 2024, Cam Skattebo proved to be a dynamic playmaker, hauling in 45 receptions for 605 yards and three touchdowns. His overall production was even more impressive, racking up 1,711 total yards and finding the end zone 21 times across 13 games.

On the other hand, Quinshon Judkins showcased his reliability as a workhorse back, rushing for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns in 14 games while adding 22 catches for 161 yards and two scores.

Both Skattebo and Judkins have the potential to bring a fresh spark to the Chiefs’ offense and serve as valuable weapons for Patrick Mahomes. More importantly, this meeting raises questions about the team’s long-term plans for running back.

With Isiah Pacheco entering the final stretch of his rookie deal, the Chiefs could be exploring their options for a potential transition in the backfield. Pacheco made a strong impact in his first two seasons, racking up 1,765 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. However, his momentum took a hit in his third year when a major knee injury sidelined him for parts of the season.

Limited to just 14 games, he struggled to find his rhythm, managing only 37 rushing yards across three contests without a single touchdown.

Skattebo Declined To Participate in the 40-Yard Dash at the NFL Combine

Skattebo played a pivotal role in the Sun Devils’ Big 12 Championship triumph over Iowa State, finding the end zone three times with two rushing touchdowns while racking up 170 yards. His ability to take over big games made him a standout performer.

But his biggest moment came in the 2025 Peach Bowl against Texas. Skattebo put on a workhorse performance, carrying the ball 30 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Even though Arizona State fell short in double overtime, his dominance on the field earned him MVP honors.

Known for his speed and explosiveness, Skattebo was widely expected to turn heads at the NFL Combine. However, he opted out of running the 40-yard dash, leaving many eager to see his official time. Instead of showcasing his speed at the Lucas Oil Stadium, he has decided to put his skills on full display at Arizona State’s pro day.

“People don’t think I’m as fast as I am,” Skattebo said, “Which, I am fast.”

“My objective at the end of the day is (to) get to the end zone,” the Rio Linda, California native added. “Being able to do that the way I do it, it works, so I’m going to continue to do it until it doesn’t work and then figure out how to make something work.”
