Last year’s offseason saw many college football coaching staff members move to the NFL. However, this year’s offseason was quite the opposite, with NFL coaches and assistants transitioning to college football.
NFL legend Bill Belichick shocked the college football world when he took the head coaching job at UNC.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was as shocked as anyone upon hearing the news. Like many others, he initially assumed Belichick had made the move to gain more leverage in the NFL.
However, since Belichick was named the official head coach of UNC’s football team, the college football world and coach Sarkisian have settled into the reality of Belichick’s presence at the collegiate level.

In his recent appearance on “Up & Adams,” Sarkisian shared his thoughts on the matter with show host Kay Adams. He touched on the significance of Belichick’s move to college football and expressed his excitement at the development.
“I think it talks a little bit about college football and where we’re at,” Sarkisian said. “Chip Kelly goes to be an assistant coach with Ryan Day, now he’s in the NFL, Bill Belichick’s now coaching college football, Matt Patricia is now a defensive coordinator at Ohio State. Just the idea and the thought behind where college football is at today is pretty exciting.”

Sarkisian worked in the NFL as an offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons from 2017-2018 before taking up the head coaching job with Texas.
Much of the college football world shares his excitement at Belichick’s move to coach UNC. They are waiting to see how the former NFL coach will perform at the college level.

With his decades of experience coaching in the NFL, during which he won six Super Bowl rings as head coach and two as an assistant, Belichick and the Tar Heels have high expectations. For Sarkisian, Belichick’s entry into college football is significant as it signals the value of the sport at the college level.
