Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo caught the attention of fans with his talent and performance on the field last season, helping Kenny Dillingham’s team to a Big 12 title and the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
However, Skattebo is the only Sun Devil to be invited to this year’s NFL scouting combine, and Dillingham has now come forward to respond to this situation.

Kenny Dillingham on Cam Skattebo Being Arizona State’s Only Combine Invite
Dillingham had several talented players on the 2024 roster. However, Skattebo was the only one enticing enough to earn an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine.
During a recent press conference, the Sun Devils’ head coach shared his thoughts on only one player from his team receiving a combine invite.
Kenny Dillingham on Cam Skattebo being the only Sun Devil to be invited to the 2025 NFL Combine:
“There’s a reason some teams get more people consistently in it. It’s because they’ve won for longer. If we go and have a good year again that will never happen again.” pic.twitter.com/SX5yENCiFr

“I do know it’s unfortunate that guys like Leif (Fautanu) specifically, Shamari (Simmons) specifically who were kind of the two borderline guys aren’t getting invited, didn’t get invited,” Dillingham said. “I think both those guys are NFL caliber players or players that have really good chance to make teams and excel.”
After a 3-9 campaign during the 2023 season, there were not a lot of expectations from Arizona State during their debut in the Big 12. However, Dillingham and his team exceeded all expectations and proved themselves as playoff contenders while also taking home the conference title.
Skattebo recorded 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns rushing for the Sun Devils. He was also honored as a First-Team All-Big-12 and First-Team All-American for his impressive final collegiate campaign.
NFL Draft Analyst Has High Hopes for Skattebo in the League
NFL draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah has high praises for the Arizona State RB. He believes that Skattebo is a sure-shot pick in this year’s draft in April.
During a conference call with NFL reporters on Thursday, Jeremiah predicted that the RB could potentially be a second to fourth-round pick. He also compared Skattebo to the Arizona Cardinals’ two-time Pro Bowler.
“I was looking at my notes on him…. and this kid, he just chooses violence,” Jeremiah said. “I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more aggressive runner who just seeks out contact and can absorb contact. When I was looking for a comp in him, my first thought was, ‘OK, he’s like a shrunk-down James Connor.'”

A total of 31 RBs have been invited for the combine in Indianapolis later this month. It will be interesting to see if Skattebo can improve his draft stock and potentially be projected as a first-round prospect.
