‘They Do That to Everybody’: Former Colorado Safety Shilo Sanders Compares Self to President Donald Trump

Colorado safety Shilo Sanders shruged off recent online criticism after Shrine Bowl practice clips resurface, comparing his presence to President Donald Trump.

In a recent interview during East-West Shrine Bowl week in Texas, former Colorado Buffalo safety and current 2025 NFL Draft prospect Shilo Sanders compared his online presence to  President Donald Trump.

Last week, Sanders seemed to struggle in practice leading up to the Shrine Bowl and faced significant online backlash from fans because of it. However, Sanders claimed that he doesn’t let online criticism affect his daily life—much like a very important public figure.

Shilo Sanders Addresses Criticism Following Shrine Bowl Struggles

In his post-game Shrine Bowl interview, Sanders claimed that his critics edited the clips from his practice session to make him look bad. He also mentioned that people online find random reasons to hate famous people.

“If you just hate me or want to hate me…” Sanders began before the clip of his postgame interview suddenly cut. He continued, “…Paint me in a bad picture. They do that to our President. They do that to everybody, you know? So I’m not going to be safe from it. But it does get aggravating whenever you put in that work, and you’re working on your craft, and [there’s] people just steadily destroying you.”

“I just care about what the scouts think,” Sanders continued. “I care about what Coach Prime thinks, what my family thinks, and I got a good circle around me, so I really don’t let that stuff affect me,” he explained. “It’s just really stupid how people always try to destroy you, and I don’t do nothing [sic] bad to nobody.”

Coach Prime Bids Farewell To His Sons

Both of head coach Deion Sanders’ sons have declared for the upcoming NFL Draft in April. With this news, Coach Prime expressed sadness over being separated from his sons, Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders. Prime Time has always guided his sons—from childhood and their time at Jackson State to their tenure with the Buffaloes at Colorado.

“Thank You, Lord, for it all,” Deion posted to social media, talking about his kids. “To see these guys go and just try to put a smile on their face, it’s unbelievable.”

In the post, Deion shared the pictures with his sons during the game and was even seen giving them crucial advice before the game began.

Despite the online criticism, Shilo Sanders had a decent performance in the Shrine Bowl. He tallied five tackles and a pass breakup, even though Sanders’ team lost 25-0. Still, Sanders will have time to boost his draft stock more with various events like the NFL Draft Combine and Colorado’s pro day coming on the horizon.
