Former 5-Star WR Micah Hudson Stepping Away From Football

Former five-star Micah Hudson transferred to Texas A&M from Texas Tech, but he's reportedly stepping away from football activities.

Just over 12 months ago, five-star wide receiver Micah Hudson was the highest-ranked recruit in Texas Tech Red Raiders history.

But after a tumultuous time in Lubbock and a highly-publicized transfer, Hudson is no longer playing football for the Texas A&M Aggies, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.

Former Freshman Phenom Micah Hudson No Longer Participating in Day-to-Day Football Activities

Hudson has garnered more attention for his potential than his play so far in his college career, as the consensus five-star was the highest-rated recruit in Texas Tech’s football history.

Head coach Joey McGuire did little to quell the excitement around his abilities, praising Hudson at Big 12 Media Days last July.

But when it came to actually showing up on the field, Hudson disappointed as a freshman, playing just 107 total snaps and catching just eight passes, while playing in enough games to burn his redshirt.

Hudson decided to leave Lubbock, garnering plenty of interest in the transfer portal. He was one of the top-rated transfers, ultimately landing with the Texas A&M Aggies.

But after just two weeks in College Station, Hudson is stepping away from day-to-day football activities, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.

AggiesToday’s Jaxson Callaway has reported that this is temporary and that Hudson is expected back with the team soon.

Texas A&M added three other receiver transfers this portal window in NC State’s Kevin Concepcion, Mississippi State’s Mario Carver, and Houston’s Jonah Wilson.

Hudson has elite potential, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be able to contribute this year for Mike Elko’s squad.
