Coming off a historic season, Penn State Nittany Lions star pass rusher Abdul Carter shares his expectations for when he will be drafted.
Abdul Carter Calls His Shot Over 2025 NFL Draft Expectations
Carter has seen his stock has steadily increase during his time at Penn State, and following his 2025 NFL Draft declaration, many, including himself view him as the number one overall prospect. The Nittany Lion took to social media on Wednesday to call his shot as the countdown to the annual selection event begins.

Carter just wrapped up one of the best seasons from any player in Penn State history. Carter recorded an impressive 12 sacks and led the entire FBS in tackles for loss with 24. The Penn State product was dominant and was the leader of a very strong defense that was one game away from making the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
As great as Carter was at Penn State, he might be an even better draft prospect. He has the tools that make scouts go crazy with his bend and power at the point of attack. Carter is a well-rounded edge defender who even excels at getting his nose in the run game. This is rare for most speed rushers, but Carter flashes ability in all aspects on his tape.
Carter is no stranger to expectations as the Pennsylvania native was ranked as a 4-star recruit out of high school. Carter was always projected to be a star but he has even exceeded these expectations. Carter was a productive player all throughout his college career and showed instincts as a young player that you rarely see.
You often see quarterbacks get taken with the number one pick, but Carter can challenge that trend. He is a true blue-chip talent and plays at a premium position. I expect the Penn State product to be the best player available on most draft boards and his fit at the pro level should be seamless.

Carter’s expectation is bold, but this type of confidence has gotten him to where he is.
If I were a team picking high in the draft, this would excite me. With Carter, you are getting a player with all the tools and intangibles to be great while also getting a guy who has many snaps and a ton of tape under his belt.
While he battled through a shoulder injury in the Orange Bowl, it didn’t seem to limit his impact. He was a force and routinely wrecked plays like his usual self. Carter is a player who never wants to get off the field and will always give you his 100%.
Carter’s expectation is that he will be the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. His tape speaks for itself and all the tools to be a future star at the next level are there. It will be interesting to see where he ends up, but for now we can expect his name to be called very early in April’s draft.
