‘I Saw This Coming a Mile Away’ – NFL Fans React as Deion Sanders Reportedly Express a ‘Very Strong Interest’ in Coaching the Raiders

Inextricably linked to every NFL job available, the recent rumors of Deion Sanders' interest in the Raiders HC role got fans whipped into a frenzy.

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has been under the spotlight since the end of the regular season. There have been speculations about him leaving the Buffs once his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, turn pro. Recently, various reports have sprung up suggesting that this might happen sooner rather than later.

Coach Sanders, despite repeatedly insisting that he has no intention of leaving Colorado, is constantly linked to NFL teams in need of a head coach. A recent report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal states that the Las Vegas Raiders are in search of a head coach to replace outgoing head coach Antonio Pierce. Once again, Coach Prime is rumored to be in consideration for the Raiders’ head coach position.

Colorado Head Coach Deion Sanders Reportedly Interested in Las Vegas Raiders’ Coaching Job

Sanders has become a force in the college football world. The NFL legend rejuvenated the Jackson State program and replicated this success to a greater degree when he joined Colorado. As a result, the demand for his services as a head coach have skyrocketed, with many considering him one of the best coaches in football.

Vincent Bonsignore of the Review-Journal cited a person close to Coach Prime, who claims that Sanders is interested in working with the Raiders. This comes after the Raiders parted ways with Pierce.

Coincidentally, Sanders, in a recent appearance on the show “Good Morning America,” made a statement that contradicts his earlier claims of never leaving Boulder. When asked what conditions he would have for moving to the NFL, Sanders responded, saying. “The only way I would consider, is to coach my sons,” Sanders said. “Not son. Sons,” he emphasized.

Fans React to Deion Sanders-Las Vegas Raiders Rumors

Fans gave overwhelmingly negative reactions to reports of Sanders possibly taking up the Raiders’ head coach position. Naturally, Buffaloes fans weren’t too pleased with the idea of the best coach they’ve had in recent memory leaving to coach in the NFL. Other football fans simply shared their displeasure.

One fan expressed his doubt at the possibility of the report being true with thinly veiled sarcasm, “I have very strong interest in winning the lottery tonight. I’d say we both have similar odds.”

Another fan, seemingly upset at the news, suggested that this would be a bad move for Coach Prime. “If this is true, why would any owner/school want Deion as a coach? All he does is leave the second another offer comes or the chance to carry his son to the next level.”

A fan urged Sanders to publicly denounce the report, to avoid it hurting his recruiting efforts for Colorado, “Prime has to speak up before this hurts recruiting efforts.”

One fan didn’t seem surprised, saying, “I saw this coming a mile away.”
